The only important integration for me will be single user logon (Joomla/webtrees/Gallery) and that will be my focus. Meanwhile I'm going to check out jFusion. I can't code but I would be more than happy to test and/or document from whichever direction it proceeds. for me, Joomla integration would be a welcome thing should anyone else be wondering if there is any further interest out there. My recent experience with Joonla was a good one. I have three more family history web sites to start from scratch and I am happy to discard all previous approaches for better ones. PGV and Galler圓 originally used inline frames, now only PGV does so that Gallery is spawned out to a new browser session so that the user can view images and use PGV at the same time. I already have a bespoke family history website that includes PGV and Galler圓. I have just created a Joomla website for members of a musical production company and I can see the benefits of a dynamic CMS when it comes to managing content. Hopefully it will be revived at some point, as it is a great product and we all owe much to its early success. Last release was almost 12 months ago, no active development, a growing list of unanswered bug reports, little support, etc. PGV, sadly, is in a state of "stasis" if not actual decline. webtrees is an active project, with a VERY busy development team, and some amazing plans for its future. You will get a good feel for the differences browsing these pages, and this independent review might also help: But, if you look at PGV's sourceforge pages the most telling difference is clear. Stephen is right that none of the current developers here have an interest in this area of work, so I'm afraid it's unlikely to gain much traction for the foreseeable future.Īs for "what advantages would I gain from migrating to webtrees instead", the list is very long. I do know that he has created a site for a webtrees/Joomla component, but last time I looked he hadn't actually done development for it. The man who created the shared login component for Joomla/PGV (Viet) did help us start our development of webtrees here, but is not currently available to work on it. Not really necessary in this environment. We are running webtrees DEMOs here within Joomla.
